Term 3
Fall 2023
BEFORE TERM
Internship at Meta was a life experience, that allowed me to meet the top people in the AR market, create an amazing project, see where the industry is heading, and figure out what skills I need to stay relevant. This term, I am eager to finally dive deep into 3D motion combined with Unity prototyping. I believe in the upcoming years, many experiences and products will transition into 3D, and the ability to execute interactive prototypes on a high level of visual & interaction execution will be essential. Moreover, I have a lot of ideas for artistic projects that I will work on. Combining the real world with new technologies, but also projects focused on fashion or video. This term, I am taking just five classes and won’t work on my side. Hopefully, I will have more time to go deeper into all the projects, but also to relax and do whatever I want without stressing. My first year in the US has been successful (in a way), but very busy. I stopped doing things that bring me joy, such as sports, playing PC games, and more. I was just executing design tasks without really thinking or being creative. I want to fix that. I want to be focused, do the best design work, and also just enjoy life.
after TERM
This flew by so fast. The term was okay. I have mixed feelings. I don’t feel like there is much work I am really proud of or that I’ve learned much. Type 2 class was probably a class in which I learned the most and did some all right work. I wasn’t excited to work on the projects much. It was more that I was taking it as responsibility and something I had to do rather than actually having fun and wanting to do it on my own. Maybe I also caused it myself because I didn’t put that much effort into it. Thus, I didn’t do the best work and knew I could do better. I feel like the issue is that in each term, I go with expectations of learning specific stuff, and I never end up actually learning what I wanted to do in the first place, so I don’t have much motivation for my classes. I end up doing the things I actually want to do outside of school, and then I don’t do anything properly and just feel bad. At least I finished my new portfolio, which I am very happy about, and I also started learning C4D, but I was hoping to spend more time around AR prototyping and 3D motion. Otherwise, I've spent a bit more time doing sports, played games a bit, but the feel and balance I am looking for is not there yet.

Spring 2023
BEFORE TERM
I can’t wait for the classes to start! My goal is to push the school work to the next level, put maximal effort into it. Firstly, I want to improve my skills in storytelling and presentations. Furthermore, I plan to focus on bold and unconventional ideas, create unique projects and artworks. I am in school, I don't need to limit myself with safe ideas. My interest in XR continues and I will seek opportunities to integrate it into my coursework. Another goal of mine is to connect more with people from other degrees, such as animation or film and collaborate on some projects with them. Outside of school, I’d like to arrange a job/project for summer. I want to find something in the XR space. We’ll see.
after TERM
Oh my god. Having 6 classes, doing a part-time job in XR startup, seeking an internship. It was a super busy term, but it was worth it! From doing some great magazine designs, learning python, to pushing myself and coming up with multiple color composition & 3d form concepts every week in design 2. I'd say my most significant progress was in enhancing my presentation skills and providing more coherent feedback. Furthermore,
I read a couple of books about creativity and started to look at work from a more artistic pov. I plan to spend more time focusing on visual design, art in a combination with motion and 3D. I also realized I have to be more kind to others and don’t push my opinions, ideas, or help to them if they don’t ask for it. I never wanted anything bad for anybody and always wanted to help, but maybe I was too “proactive” and too excited about my own progress. Another key lesson I learned was that juggling 10 different activities prevents me from producing high-quality work. Some of the weeks were very stressful and sad for me since I felt like there is so much going on, I worked a ton, but I wasn’t proud of the work because I knew I could do better. In the future, I want to choose fewer classes, go deep into them, not just complete assignments to check them off on a todo list. Last but not least, I got a summer internship.
I will be working on AR at Meta. Let’s gooo! See you in fall!

Fall 2022
BEFORE TERM
Honestly, I don't really know what to expect from the different classes on my schedule, but overall I'm looking forward to ArtCenter a lot. Right now, I am very excited about XR and am eager to focus on this area as much as possible. I'm looking forward to adding XR projects to my portfolio and exploring new technologies, as well as networking in LA and SF, attending design events, and building connections in the XR industry. I want to arrange some work opportunities and internships for the next summer and push my career forward. Overall, I'm feeling enthusiastic and hopeful about the opportunities that lie ahead. It will be fun.
after TERM
Initially, I wasn't so happy that my classes were mostly focused on foundations and 2D screens and that I didn't have time for outside activities due to a heavy workload. While this was initially disappointing, I've come to realize the value of these subjects like persuasive sketching or design 1 focusing on foundational sketching, color, and composition knowledge. I understand the importance of building a strong foundation. Yet, I am not somebody with completely no experience. I felt like that as a “first-termer,” I wasn't expected to think about internships or focus on more complex projects like XR, which made me a bit sad. However, after some discussions with professors, I think, we found the right balance and I got some space to explore even XR space a bit. Overall, I feel very positive. I've learned a lot in just three months and the school environment pushes me forward so much.
